Interesting web site I came across today called Do My Stuff. It posts tasks that need to get done in just about any spectrum of need, including doing one’s laundry, web design, tiling the bathroom…and Virtual Assistance. The job seekers bid on how much they are willing to get paid. Instead of going to the highest bidder, the lowest bidder is considered.
There appears to be a good opportunity to get one’s foot in the door in regards of obtaining tasks. My primary concern is that the job seekers who bid on the jobs bring down the pay rate so low (try $7.25 on one posting), that it is a wonder how anyone can earn a living. Moreover, have people think that professional VA’s can be hired on-the-cheap. It is a hope that individuals who post these tasks realize that you potentially get trapped in the ‘you-get-what-you-pay-for’ SNAFU.
I signed up nevertheless. Though the odds are slim that I will get the assignment with what I believe is a reasonable rate for a Virtual Assistant, I will bid from time to time. Better to wait for a good and fiscally reasonable fit between VA & Client.
